Whether you are an avid bible reader or not, it’s likely you’ve heard the famous verse about love. I read somewhere, to read the verse to your children, but replace the word love with your child’s name. I thought this was a sweet idea, so last night before bed, I went to their rooms individually to read this verse…
This is how it sounded for Belle:
Belle is patient, Belle is kind. She does not envy, she does not boast, she is not proud. She does not dishonor others, she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, she keeps no record of wrongs. Belle does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. She always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. -1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
I’m always looking for new ways to encourage the kids with scripture, so I thought this was wonderful! It affirmed who she is and where her worth comes from. It also opens up more conversation, like, “Mom, what is envy? What does boast mean?” I love it! If you have any ways that you open up conversation or affirmations with your kids, scriptural or not, I would LOVE to hear it!!
