Before I share this simple recipe let me tell you ladies, I am OBSESSED with clean floors.  So your probably thinking, how can this girl let her kids play with moon sand if she loves clean floors?!  Cookie trays ladies!! Or giant a bin!!  Make up the moon sand and let your kids have at it on a tray or in a big bin, that way the mess isn’t all over the table,.  This recipe is so easy and kids LOVE the feel of it in their hands. This has kept mine busy for hours!  Which is a total sanity saver when you’re all inside for a long period of time over Christmas break! Now for the recipe…

All you need is some sort of oil, flour and peppermint essential oil!!  I use grapeseed oil and flour from Costco, because it’s super easy on the wallet!!  A mixer is handy as well, but if you don’t have one, no biggie, just mix in a big bowl with a large spoon.  Here’s the measurements you will use:

8 cups of flour

1 and 1/4 cup Grapeseed oil

15 drops of peppermint oil

Mix it all up until well combined and there you have it!!  So quick and easy to make!  Add some jewels or sparkles for extra fun!  Another fun idea is to pick up some little dino’s from the dollar store to hide in the moon sand.   It will take some time for your child to find them all and then they can have some fun playing with it after!

Store in a container with a lid after the kids are done for the day!   I chose an empty ice cream pail.  Enjoy!!

Do you have any plans for the Christmas break?  Let me know in the comments! I would love to hear what everyone is up to!

Crafts are so much fun at Christmas (and always)! What were some of the things that Belle created with the sand?

    • Yes, so fun!! I can’t wait to do more! Belle really liked putting the sand into soap molds and a heart ice cube tray to make shapes. She also asked me to hide her shopkins in the sand so she could search for them. Kaine played with his little arm men in the moon sand. Using his imagination and just playing. It was neat to watch! I’m sure they will want to pull it out again soon! Thanks for your question! <3
