Raise your hand if you desire a healthy body and clear skin, but you still want all the dessert! Yes girl, me too! I know I preach a lot about what we put on our bodies, but along side a great skincare regimen, fueling your body with nutritious food should be right at the top of your priority list! I struggled with skin issues for YEARS!! I’m talking my entire life until now. Eczema, weird rashes, acne, you name it, I most likely had it! It’s incredibly frustrating to say the least!! By staying away from dairy as much as possible and using a clean skincare regimen for acne prone skin, I can now confidently say that my skin is glowing and I’ve never felt better! Okay so what does a girl do when PMS and cravings strike? STOP! Instead of heading to the drive through or convince store, scroll on down for a DELICIOUS acne fighting dessert!
Fight Acne With Food? What’s The Deal?
Your face is a canvas of what’s going on inside your body. Fill your body with foods that can cause inflammation like processed sugar and dairy and it’s likely your skin will reflect that. Here are a few key ingredients in this yummy and healthy dessert that will help to get that skin glowing girl:
Almonds are packed with essential fatty acids, protein, and fiber. Almonds also provide vitamin E that keeps the blood vessels dilated in order to keep the skin hydrated! This helps defend the skin against certain disorders like acne, eczema and dark spots. Groovy right?!
Cashews are known as acne-fighting nutrients! The reason why is these nuts are high in selenium, which acts as an antioxidant with vitamin E, leaving a hydrated skin and reduced inflammation. The presence of zinc in cashews promotes cell growth that can renew and replenish infected or damaged acne areas on your skin. Zinc will also help reduce inflammation.
The antioxidants in strawberries protect our bodies from stress and delay the signs of aging like wrinkles and drooping skin. The Vitamin C fights free radicals that cause damage to cells and collagen resulting in fine lines. Basically this super fruit is going to help you get your healthy glow on girl!! Be sure to buy these organic!
1 Cup Tamari Almonds
1 Cup Pecans
2/3 Cup Oats
1 1/3 Cup Pitted Dates
2 Pinches Of Cinnamon
Pulse the nuts in a food processor until its a mealy texture.
Next slowly add in the dates a little at a time. Pulse until the mixture comes together like a rough dough.
Press into the base of a cheesecake pan or tart dish. If you’re using a tart dish like the one in my photo then you can actually spread these ingredients and make two desserts! This is my fave thing to do, so that I can have one in the freezer when a craving strikes! Damp your hands with water when pressing into the pan. Cover and chill until you need it!
3 Cups Raw Cashews Soaked
6 TBSP Coconut Oil
1 Juice of Lemon
1 1/2 TSP Vanilla
1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
2 Cups Strawberries
Soak your raw cashews for at least 2 hours or overnight. By soaking, you are breaking down the phytic acid so it can be absorbed properly. Nuts also have high amounts of enzymes inhibitors. Soaking nuts can neutralize the enzymes allowing for proper digestion.
Place your ingredients in a high speed blender. I find when I put them into the blender in the order listed above they blend the best!! Blend until silky smooth and then pour the filling over your crust. Freeze for 1-2 hours to set. Garnish however you like and enjoy!! If you keep this in the freezer you will have to take it out for a bit before serving so it’s not rock solid!
I LOVE this recipe, because it’s filled with so many great for the skin ingredients plus it’s dairy free!! Dairy makes me break out so I try to avoid it as much as possible. This recipe is also vegan and gluten free as long as you get gluten free oats! I know you will love this dessert so much!! Another bonus is it’s kid, hubby and friend approved! SCORE!!
I would so appreciate it if you would share this post to Pinterest or another social media platform!!! Thanks for popping in and I can’t wait for you to come back soon!
